A change of pace for today - some results!

The whole point of the Secret is that we get some positive results. Some things that we requested; asked the universe for.

Well, here are some results of some of my friends who have been employing the Secret.

I have changed their names for this blog for anonymity, of course.

Let's start with Lucy. Lucy is a friend of mine who has been in a very long distance relationship for quite awhile now. Which sucks. I told her all about the Secret after I read the book and she has been implementing it into her life for the last few weeks. Well, her boyfriend recently applied for a great job in his home city, and she has been visualising him getting this job so she can move there with him and finally live in the same city again after so long. Well, it looks like he is going to be getting the job! So Lucy is understandably very excited :)

I have two other friends, let's name them Helen and Maggie; both watched the DVD version of the Secret in the past few months and both have just started new jobs! Maggie has found a job in her field, and I think she is excited about it :) Helen is in the city she wanted in an area of her field that she was looking for as well. Oh and by the way Helen also had two other offers at the same time; she had that really great luxury of choice!

Soon, I will have some concrete results of my own!

Tomorrow, back to culture :)

Be careful what you wish for...

Because you just might get it. Aside from being a lame, but annoyingly catchy, Pussycat Dolls song, Be careful what you wish for is an old idiom; it can be found expressed in various folk tales and myths.

All of these folktales (I'll talk about specific instances in later posts) express the need to be specific. This is reflected in the Secret. The Secret tells you that you must ask for things you want in specifics and in positives.

For example: If you constantly think to yourself or talk about how you need money, than you will always need money. If you think and talk in the positive I have lots of money, even if it isn't true, money will come to you. The same goes for everything.

The idiom be careful what you wish or has become a bit skewed, and today means more to be careful about what you are wishing for, i.e. you may not really want it. But in regards to the Secret, the idiom can be interpreted as be careful how you wish; i.e. you may not be getting what you intended.

There are a lot of examples of this and I will blog about them soon!

"I think I can, I think I can . . . "

Today's topic is The Little Engine That Could

Everyone knows this story of the anthropomorphised little blue train engine that pulls a big long train of cars over a mountain after all the bigger and stronger train engines refused.

According to Wikipedia the tale first appeared under the title Thinking One Can in 1906, in Wellsprings for Young People, a Sunday School publication. it's a great moral, believe in yourself and you will suceed, even though the task seems unsurmountable.

This is another Secret principle, believe you can do something and you will be able to, regardless of how impossible it may appear. This ties in a bit with yesterday's Kung Fu Panda and believing in oneself. I think its important that these are used in conjunction. It is easy enough to believe something is possible for other people, but you have to believe YOU can do it.
I'm starting to sound more like a motivational speaker than an historian. :(
I am going to try for more historical facts for the future. My whole point is, that these principles are ingrained in our history, beliefs and supersitions and its not so much of a "secret," it's just a matter of realising what we have all always known.

Busy busy day!

The item I had planned on posting today did not get researched today. So, it will have to wait.

In its place I will discuss a manifestation of the secret in contemporary popular culture - the very adorable and funny Kung Fu Panda!

If you have not seen this movie than stop reading because the following will include a key spoiler:

The key point of the story arc is the 'Dragon Scroll.' It is the reason that the villain, Tai Lung, has followed his evil path - his adoptive father refused to give him the scroll, which promises greatness and power. The legend is that the Dragon scroll explains to the 'Dragon Warrior' the secrets to this power and greatness.

The title character, the panda named Po, is accidentally named the Dragon warrior and eventually, and humourously, is given the dragon scroll. When he opens it it's blank!
And reflective he can see himself in the scroll surface.

Therefore, the secret of the dragon scroll is belief in oneself!
Which is a fundamental principal of the Secret.

I have a few more examples that follow this principal of self belief. Many of these (I will continuously point out) also have an element of misdirection. That the belief is put into an inanimate object. Because it is easier to believe in a scroll than it is to believe in yourself.

Welcome to my Blog!

I have been having a tough time lately. I'm very lonely because I am far away from any of my friends and my family. I have very few friends where I am living because I don't fit it. I am a city girl stuck in the middle of nowhere. In a place I could of never imagined hating as much as I do.

That is the last negativity that you will read in this blog.

This blog is not to complain about my life. I am at a rough patch yes, but that is all it will pass. I will get out of here!

No, this blog is to discuss my new discovery - The Secret!

There are two things that I will be discussing:

Firstly, I plan to document everything that I acquire or changes that happen while I am employing it.

Secondly, while I was reading The Secret it struck me that there are references to the principles of the secret everywhere. They can be found in colloquial speech, folklore, and superstitions. I plan on creating a detailed list of many of these. The book references many direct historical mentions of the secret, but this list will consist of indirect uses.

For example: the colloquial saying 'Happy-go-lucky' seems to utilise the principle of the secret. That if you are happy you put out positive thoughts into the universe, and therefore get positive things back; ergo the notion that you are lucky.

I hope to update this often. I have a list already of places the secret manifests itself and I will post one at a time. If anyone has any examples please send them to me so I can include them. Especially colloquial sayings from other languages.

I will post again soon!
