I have been having a tough time lately. I'm very lonely because I am far away from any of my friends and my family. I have very few friends where I am living because I don't fit it. I am a city girl stuck in the middle of nowhere. In a place I could of never imagined hating as much as I do.
That is the last negativity that you will read in this blog.
This blog is not to complain about my life. I am at a rough patch yes, but that is all it will pass. I will get out of here!
No, this blog is to discuss my new discovery - The Secret!
There are two things that I will be discussing:
Firstly, I plan to document everything that I acquire or changes that happen while I am employing it.
Secondly, while I was reading The Secret it struck me that there are references to the principles of the secret everywhere. They can be found in colloquial speech, folklore, and superstitions. I plan on creating a detailed list of many of these. The book references many direct historical mentions of the secret, but this list will consist of indirect uses.
For example: the colloquial saying 'Happy-go-lucky' seems to utilise the principle of the secret. That if you are happy you put out positive thoughts into the universe, and therefore get positive things back; ergo the notion that you are lucky.
I hope to update this often. I have a list already of places the secret manifests itself and I will post one at a time. If anyone has any examples please send them to me so I can include them. Especially colloquial sayings from other languages.
I will post again soon!

What about "I think, therefore I am"... I know that's not how it was meant.. but I also feel it applies!
ReplyDeleteI will put it on my list! Thanks hun!
ReplyDeleteThe Secret was one of those books that ENRAGENED me when I worked at the Book Cabal. Because the people who come in feel the need to describe how wonderful the book is and how if Oprah loves it, it MUST be good and I just want to yell "THINKING POSITIVELY WILL NOT CURE YOUR CANCER!" but instead I would just smile, nod, and then duck into receiving to make fun of them after they'd left.
ReplyDeleteI know, but thats not it Kate. It's not thinking positively. That's what I thought too. Well, yes it is thinking positively, but its more about not thinking negatively; or more precisely not thinking in negatives.
ReplyDeleteI honestly couldn't give a rats ass about what Oprah thinks about it. Now my friend Diana watched the dvd version and just started her new job in Washington DC in on Tuesday, my friend Kaycee, who is also starting a new job, next week I think, after two years at starbucks, also watched it.
Now I am exploring the principles in an historical and anthropological manner. So, humour me. :) But doubt all you like, I will conduct my experiment.
